TREE TRIMMING
TIME FOR TREE MAINTENANCE?
We use a variety of tree trimming methods to get your tree trimming job done efficiently. The benefits of tree trimming are not just aesthetic. While that is an important part of it, there are other reasons you should prune your tree:
Improves the health of the tree by thinning out the canopy and removing dead wood
Enables better air circulation which allows the tree to “breathe”
Reduces the chance of major breakage during storms with high winds
Promotes better tree structure for longevity and optimum growth
Provides clearance over buildings or other structures
We do not do tree topping. Find out why here.
WHEN SHOULD I GET MY TREE TRIMMED?
If you notice any of the following, it’s probably time:
Dense foliage with many crossing branches
Lots of dead wood
Branches encroaching on your house or other structures
Broken or dangling branches

TREE TOPPING
We do not do “tree topping,” a practice that is discouraged in the arborist industry. Topping is generally requested becuase of a fear that a tree has gotten too tall.
Topping is a way of reducing a tree’s height by literally cutting off the top third of the tree. The tree responds defensively to these significant wounds by shooting out suckers all around the pruned areas. These newly developed branches are weakly attached and reduce the tree’s overall strength. This practice can also lead to disease and decay. It disregards long-term tree health and structural integrity.
The proper approach to tall trees is to reduce the density of the crown through careful thinning.
If you have a topped tree where the suckers have gotten out of control, we can do crown restoration to improve the tree’s structure and appearance.
